Three months after the first same-sex weddings took place, Swindon is about to host it’s first gay wedding fayre.
Newly established events and photography company Manorwell is coordinating the fayre which will take place on Sunday 6th July at the Mecure Swindon Hotel, South Marston from 11am – 3pm.
Following a change in law at the end of March, same sex couples in England and Wales who want to have a wedding, not a civil partnership, can have one. The government’s controversial legislation was passed last summer against the background of much debate between religious groups and government bodies.
Planning the big day can be a daunting prospect for many, and the fayre will provide the ideal opportunity to browse and discuss many aspects that make the day special.
Among the businesses present are Debenhams Young’s Hire, Rachel’s Wedding Shop, The Sweet Banquet, Heartfelt Flowers, Bespoke Card creations, That Special Touch Venue Dressers, Instant Replay Dj’s, Manorwell Photography, Cheek 2 cheek dance School, Forever Living, Catherine Rose Photography, Cool Joolz, Nom Cakes and Attsy Beads.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a Pink Fizz reception, participate in Cake Sampling and well as Thornton’s Chocolates, Majestic Wines will be tasting as well as a raffle jam packed with money savers, treats and items for forthcoming weddings.
Anthony Porter from Manorwell said “Our Friend recently told us that although there are Gay Wedding fayres surrounding Swindon , Swindon itself doesn’t have one and they thought it was criminal ! , so they wondered if perhaps we would be interested in collating one. We felt this would be a wonderful opportunity to host a fantastic wedding fayre with all the excitement and bling we can muster!”
