People in Swindon and Wiltshire are urged to get their kit on to help celebrate the launch of this year’s Swindon & Wiltshire Pride.
The official launch party of the county’s annual LGBT celebrations will take place this Saturday (12th July) at The Mailcoach’s function room and will feature the popular act Topping & Butch, Minioke and Mini Midler will be blasting out some tunes to ensure the party really gets started. The main headline act for Pride Day will also be revealed.
Topping & Butch have had a string of yearly sell out shows at The Pleasance and Underbelly venues at The Edinburgh Fringe and have been regulars on Radio 4′s “Loose Ends” as well as appearances on Paramount Comedy Channel’s “The World Stands Up”. Their own West End shows have included “Take It Up the Octave” and “Desperate Fishwives” at The Soho Theatre and “How to Survive Valentine’s Day” and “Sex, Drugs and Harriet Harman” at The Leicester Square Theatre.
Happy Hour will run from 7.30 – 8.30pm, and those wearing Football Kit will get a free shot.
Swindon & Wiltshire Pride Day itself happens on Saturday 9th August with a parade around Old Town from 11.15, leading to the Town Gardens where community stalls, bars and the main stage will be situated, entertaining people until the late evening with a variety of acts.
Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is proud to provide a free event that is open to everyone, organised by volunteers for all to enjoy. The event is a safe and fun environment for members of the community to come along and meet new people and make friends. It also helps to break down barriers and build bridges between the LGBT and non-LGBT communities, it helps to educate and remove pre-conceived judgements that people may hold regarding individuals that identify as LGBT and access to many various support services.
