Lloyds Banking Group which has major offices in Bristol has been revealed as one of the top employers in Stonewall’s 2016 Top 100 list.
Equality campaign group Stonewall has published its top 100 employers list for 2016, which the charity describes as a definitive guide to the most inclusive employers in Britain.
The list, now in its 12th year, named Lloyds Banking Group as second on the UK list overall and top in the list of employers for promoting LGBT diversity for Wales and Scotland.
As well as placing high in the employers lists, Lloyds Group Director of Operations and Executive Sponsor for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, Karin Cook, was also named Senior Champion of the Year.
Ms Cook said: “It is a great honour for me to have been named Stonewall’s Senior Champion of the Year 2016. My role as Lloyds Banking Group’s Executive Sponsor for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity is incredibly rewarding and am ably supported by an extremely proactive group of colleagues. I am personally committed to helping our LGBT colleagues be more comfortable and confident in bringing their whole selves to work, and want to ensure that Lloyds Banking Group is seen as an employer of choice for the LGBT community.”
More than 400 organisations took part in the 2016 Workplace Equality Index (WEI), the highest number in its 12-year history. The WEI is a powerful evidence-based benchmarking tool used by employers to assess their achievements and progress on LGBT equality in the workplace.
Each participant must demonstrate their expertise in 10 distinct areas of employment policy and practice, including networking groups, career development, training and community engagement.
