It has bee revealed that a businessman is hoping to open a gay bar in Wincanton, Somerset.
As reported by Somersetlive, Kevin Christodoulou’s next project will involve The Red Lion in Wincanton’s Market Place, which has been closed for some time.
Mr Christodoulou will be taking on the business with his partner, Ben Land, and is actively looking for new employees to run it. Mr Christodoulou, who has previously rescued pubs such as The Stallards in Trowbridge in Wiltshire – will rent The Red Lion from a business called Four County Inns, which owns the premises.
Mr Christodoulou aims to reopen the pub eight weeks on from Monday, October 3 – which would mean opening in late November in time for the Christmas period in December.
He told Somersetlive “The bar will hopefully have karaoke nights led by singers in drag. As well as the drag queens we want to do quiz nights, fundraising for local charities, cocktails, drinks, coffees and teas.
“There won’t be any food as all the other pubs round here already do that. This will be something different, with a relaxed atmosphere. There’s also going to be a free jukebox and a pool table.”
