The Gay Outdoor Club operates throughout the UK and provides a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender men and women. These activities include walking, cycling, swimming, badminton, rock climbing, canoeing, caving, mountaineering, and skiing. GOC has over 1500 members and offers up to one hundred meets per month

In the PrideWest area, The local branches offer a frequent series of local walks where you can enjoy the splendour of the local countryside and get some exercise while youre doing it !

MonthAugust

Sunday 17 August

A 9 mile walk from Symond's Yat following the River Wye towards Lydbrook and English Bicknor, with views over the river into Wales. Starting from the main car park at northern end of B4432. Some steep hills. Please bring a picnic lunch.


MonthSeptember

Sunday 7 September

Meet at the Upton Wood car park on the A46 between Brockworth and Painswick, near Prinknash Abbey. The walk takes in ancient beech woodland, Cotswold villages, limestone flora and fauna, and a ruined Roman Villa. A moderately energetic 7½mile trek, traversing the scarp, with views over the Severn valley, following the Cotswold Way in places. Lunch in Birdlip with pub option or bring your own.


Sunday 21 September

A fairly level 7 mile walk from Bradford-on-Avon along the River Avon towards Staverton and Holt. There will be time to visit the moated Manor House at Great Chalfield, owned by the National Trust (admission charges for house and/or garden). Pub lunch or bring picnic.


MonthOctober

Sunday 5th October

A mainly level linear walk of 8 miles, which follows part of the former Chippenham to Calne railway line with a bus service back to Chippenham at end of walk. Pub lunch option.


Sunday 19th October

A 7-mile walk from Bath, taking in the Kelston and Lansdown area, partly along Cotswold Way. Pub lunch option.


MonthNovember

Sunday 2nd November

A walk in the Sapperton area , including Pinbury Park and Edgeworth, starting at Sapperton church. Please bring picnic lunch.


Sunday 23rd November

Clevedon and the Waltons, including a stretch of coastal footpath, a 6 mile walk with two short ascents. Bring a picnic lunch.
