While the Westcountry may not be renowned for its thriving gay nightlife, there are many community organisations that work in conjunction with one another to provide our LGBT population with an excellent support network. Covering all ages, creeds, races, beliefs and abilities, the local LGBT community groups are a superb source of information and are testament to the real sense of community that our community offers.

Hobbies/Pastimes
Meeting monthly at a venue in the centre of Bristol to discuss a book written by a gay author or about gay themes. Currently the group compromises of a very mixed in age and background. Anyone is free to choose a book but they don't necessarily have to introduce it themself. Discussions are quite lively and new members would be welcome. Email for further details

Sing Out Bristol is a choir run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who enjoy singing. They welcome all members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Choir experience is not necessary, although the ability to sing in tune is desirable! Also, there are plenty of opportunities to help out with non-singing activities - especially at performances.

Activity
OutdoorLads is a UK-wide outdoor pursuits and social group, with well in excess of 10,000 members and almost 1,000 alone in the South West. Members are gay or bisexual guys, with a core age group of 18-35, but all ages are welcome
The local branches of the Gay Outdoor Club based in Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire hold regular events, there is no better way to take in the beauty of the local countryside, get some exercise, and maybe even a pub lunch!
Cycle Out ride their bikes for recreation and fun. There are rides based around Bristol and also weekend trips or longer throughout Britain and beyone. They aim to vary the types and lengths of rides to involve all levels of cycling ability and interest.

Sporting
A rugby club for gay and straight men offering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere to train and play rugby. They are looking for people to both help support and play. What ever your age, skills or ability you will be made welcome as they take you through the basics of the game or get you involved in more advanced practice. The Bisons hold training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at various locations around Bristol.

Lesbian
A social group for lesbians aged 30 and over. They meet on the first and third Thursday of the month at The Watershed, Bristol.
A discussion network for women to arrange social activities, Sociability organises transport sharing to local events and activites such as dining out, cinema visits and much more. If you would like to join the network, send an email to Debra for more details
Informal social group of lesbians and their children who meet monthly. Our children age range is 0-12 yrs approx. Contact Rachel for more details
Tallulah is the new community performance group, meeting weekly in the heart of Bristol. Tallulah welcomes lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning women who have a passion for drama and performance and want to be part of a like-minded community of theatre creators.
