Operation Broiler uncovers ‘gay brothel’ in Redfield

A recent Avon & Somerset police operation codenamed ‘Operation Broiler’ has uncovered what was thought to be a gay brothel in a street in Redfield, Bristol.

The operation which was focussing on Vice and Drugs primarily in the Stapleton Road area of Easton but also tackled problems in nearby areas.

The Bristol Evening Post reports that plain-clothed officers from the vice squad posed as customers to gain entry to a house in Albert Parade, Redfield. They found two men and one woman inside the three-bedroomed house where the downstairs rooms contained no furniture while the bedrooms only contained beds and packets of condoms.

PC Danny Toogood, of the District Focus Team, told the Evening Post: “The person running this suspected brothel is not here tonight so we cannot make any arrests. What we can do is talk to the people inside and check that no-one is underage, no-one has been trafficked or is being forced into anything. “It is only an offence to run a brothel, so our hands are tied.

During the operation, which was expected to last until 3am, police also intended to stop a number of kerb crawlers and carry out drug raids at two properties.
