My Big Gay Italian Wedding

Planning a wedding can be hell…but planning to ruin a wedding can be a hell of a lot of fun!

My Big Gay Italian Wedding is a play written by Anthony J. Wilkinson that includes original music and lyrics written by David Boyd. It premiered off-Broadway in 2003 at the Actor’s Playhouse in New York City and since then has become a hit ever since.

The play satirizes the controversies surrounding same-sex marriage as well as gay and Italian stereotypes. Anthony Pinnunziato, a gay Italian-American from a large chaotic family, wishes to marry his boyfriend Andrew Polinski in a traditional Italian ceremony. Anthony’s overbearing mother won’t give her blessing unless Andrew’s estranged mother also gives her blessing and the ceremony is performed by a priest. Matters are further complicated by Andrew’s ex-boyfriend, intent on breaking up the couple.

The Komedia venue in Bath would be delighted if you’d be able to come and join the congregation on Thursday 17th May at 8pm as this off-Broadway cult hit makes its European Premiere. Andrew and Anthony are getting married  and everyone wants to ‘help’! – My Big Gay Italian Wedding spins into a hysterical fiasco as everyone tries to have their way.

Komedia Bath, which is located in Westgate Street in the City Centre is celebrating it’s recent Chortle Comedy Award win, after being recognises as the “Best Live Comedy Venue – Wales and the West of England” for 2012.
