The Lady Boys of Bangkok to bring the carnival atmosphere to Bristol
The Lady Boys of Bangkok are coming back to Bristol with their stellar new show ‘Carnival Queens’ which packs more glitz, more glamour and more giggles into 105-minutes than probably any other cabaret show in the UK.
St Paul’s Carnival may hay have been cancelled but the Lady Boys of Bangkok are pledging to bring the carnival spirit with them when they return to the city for nine nights from Friday, June 15.
Accompanied by a soundtrack of pounding drums and carnival rhythm the Lady Boys will take you on a unique carnival parade as they do their own spectacular cabaret performances of hits by Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Shirley Bassey and Queen.
Their sold-out shows in the Sabai Pavilion again to be erected in Castle Park have proven to be one of the most fun-filled events of the summer. This year the Lady Boys are promising to bewitch Bristolians with their most colourful show yet as the talented troupe of carnival queens (and kings!) sport more than 300 elaborate handmade costumes during the fun-filled show.
Artistic director Phillip Gandey said: “‘Carnival Queens’ is infused with the comedy, surprises and satire that only the Lady Boys can deliver and it resounds to the timeless Latin beats of fiesta and pulsates to the chart topping sounds of today. The result is the unique comedy cabaret experience ‘Carnival Queens’ which marks a new high for the spectacle that is The Lady Boys of Bangkok.”
As well as being a feast for the eyes there’s fresh Thai food on offer at the Lady Boys’ shows from their resident Master Chef Miss Khanittha Pornngarm and two fully stocked bars.
From what we’ve heard so far we think ‘Carnival Queens’ could well be the Lady Boys’ crowning glory.
The Lady Boys Sabai Pavilion can be found in Castle Park, a short walk from Old Market and the Cabot Circus Shopping Centre. The show runs from Friday 15th June to Saturday 23rd June, tickets from £14
