Bristol Gears up for Pride Weekend

Thousands of people are expected to come and join in as we celebrate the largest Pride Parade we have ever seen and a packed Pride Day festival featuring over 50 performers including: Meet your Feet, FTW, The Lady GaGa Experience, S Club, Booty Luv, Bright Light Bright Light, Heg Doughty and The Wolf Chorus, Funkinsteins, Fungus name but a few and all headlined by the epic international sensation Martha Wash performing a string of #1 including Weather Girls, Black Box and C+C Music Factory!

What’s more with new sponsors committed to supporting We Are: Proud and the work we do all year round as well as a lot of hard work from our volunteers Pride Day is FREE this year with no scaling back, just and packed week of events and acts to really put Bristol on the map and make Bristol Pride one of the biggest events in the UK and allowing for the most visible Pride event ever.

Pride Night features a special Street Fiesta with more performances, bands, Can-can and zumba before Pride takeover the O2 with DRESSAGE: Horseplay, Horse Meat Disco, Push the Button, Tranarchy as well as aerial performances from Circomedia, Dark Island Dance, special visuals, photo booth and much much more! Tickets are only £10 for club only or £15 for the Pride supporter wristband. All the money helps fund the free day festival.

As ever NO GLASS is allowed on site at all – however this year the police have placed a restriction on Alcohol that can be brought onto site (we manage to stop them putting a complete ban!!) you will be allowed to bring in 1 of the following: 1 x Box of Wine, 1 x 2lts of Alcohol in Plastic bottles, 4 x premixed spirit in cans
No restriction on soft drinks but these MUST be sealed.

There is a bar on-site, with cheap prices (just £3 for pints) and special offers and discounts for Pride Card holders. Buying from the bar supports the Pride Festival and the work we do all year round. Please support Pride by buying drinks from the bar if you can.

WE ARE: PROUD is a bold weeklong celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community in the South West. With celebrity support from the likes of Stephen Fry, Matt Lucas, Graham Norton and ‘Mammia Mia’ writer Catherine Johnson, Bristol Pride 2012 promises to be the biggest event yet. Events still coming up this week:

Teaming up with Bristol Shakespeare Festival and taking over Creative Common, the new and exciting Big Top in Temple Meads, Pride present a special pop up theatre performance followed by an award winning reworking of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.


We Are: Proud to be screening the epic Weekend as well as film short Contracted at the Watershed. Pride Card holders will get 10% off all food and drinks.

Contracted is a Pride exclusive with a Q & A with the filmmakers & selected cast members following the screening of Weekendan honest, unapologetic love story and a film about the search for identity and has picked up over 20 international awards.


The Cube Cinema is home to ‘The Trans Issue’ by Beacons Icons & Dykons. Expect special performance from internationally acclaimed Tom Marshman and others based around this outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious adaptation of the hit musical.

An all time favourite we can’t wait to see what performances BIDS have lined up.
