Coniston Community Centre launches a new LGBT group
Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people can now kick start their weekend with friends at Coniston Community Centre in Patchway, North Bristol. A new meeting called “LGBT Saturday Brunch” will launch on Saturday August 4 from 10 till noon.
During the recent Bristol Pride 2012 event the organisers began asking a range of people what would attract them to a LGBT social group, and the feedback was that people would like a sociable group where you could eat, drink, chill out, chat, have some banter. Some people said they would also like information and support.
The survey that was carried out showed that most people were with the 10 till noon time slot. Nevertheless, some people have other commitments during this time. But, they hope as the event is monthly it will give everyone a chance to drop in. The survey will soon be on facebook- so comments can be added.
The meeting will then continue on the first Saturday of each month. If you fancy a banter over brunch, finding information and support or wish to engage with the LGBT community – either pop in at the next get together or contact us in advance. Everyone’s welcome from across South Gloucestershire, Bristol, North Somerset and beyond.
Speaking about LGBT Saturday Brunch, David Sully, who is leading the start up of the group with Vicky Bailey said: “We hope our monthly events will offer an opportunity to kick start the weekend with friends. It will be a great way to meet new people in a friendly environment where you can have a laugh, discuss issues, watch a film, eat cake, drink tea and perhaps arrange a night out. My vision is to offer a new way for people to meet, share experiences and information and perhaps offer support. I’m proud that Bristol is increasing its range of LGBT social groups and we’re busy hooking up with these groups so you know what’s out there at each of our get togethers”
