Matt Alber Returns To Bristol
Popular twice Grammy Award-Winning gay singer songwriter, Matt Alber, is returning to Bristol to celebrate launching his new album.
Following his exceptional debut performance in Bristol last year, Matt will be returning to The Birdcage on Saturday 9th August at 8pm as part of his latest UK Tour celebrating the release of “Wind, Sand, Stars”, which is currently available on iTunes.
Born in Kansas and raised in Missouri, Alber studied music and vocal training at Truman State University, latterly becoming a member of the Grammy-award winning all-male vocal group Chanticleer.
Matt went solo in the mid-2000s with the albums Nonchalant & Hide Nothing, the leading single from which went viral after the US gay entertainment TV channel, Logo TV, gave it publicity.
Alber followed-up Hide Nothing with 2011’s Constant Crows, which found the singer experimenting more with folk music and torch songs. Alber stated in an interview with The Herald Palladium that the song on his second record was influenced by his stripped-down, acoustic live performances, a change from the “dreamy” and starry-eyed sound from his debut. Following the release of his second album, Alber became an icon for the bear community, modeling as a pin-up for Meat Magazine in 2013.
Matt will be supported at his Bristol gig by The Blackbird Quintet, and tickets can either be bought on the door for £5, or in advance from the Bristol Ticket Shop.
