Indigo – The Other Ida

Indigo – The Other Ida

Join us to celebrate the launch of The Other Ida,

It’s been a good year for Amy Mason. She finished her debut novel then topped off the year by winning one of the biggest literary prizes around, the prestigious Dundee International Book Prize.

Fresh from this success Amy joins us for a special Indigo event to launch her award-winning debut The Other Ida.

Some of you may recognise Amy. Perhaps from her recent appearance on the BBC homepage or her hit 5*Edinburgh Show, The Islanders. Or perhaps you remember her as an Indigo Regular and as a talented host of our Pride literary event back in 2011.

Now Oxford-based, Amy returns to Bristol for this launch. Listen to Amy read from the book, get the lowdown on the characters or ask away in the Q & A. Get a signed copy of the novel and raise your glass high!

This special evening will be chaired by Novelist Beatrice Hitchman.

The Book

“Funny, bright, bold and exciting. Sparkles with originality and insight.” – Viv Groskop

Almost 30 and entirely irresponsible, Ida Irons returns home for her mothers funeral. It’s the first time she’s been back, or seen her younger sister Alice, in many years.

Their mother was the caustic and secretive writer Bridie Adair, who named Ida after her infamous play. While Ida has been struggling to escape its shadow, Alice has been dealing with problems of her own. Forced to confront their fractured relationship, the sisters question their own troubling memories and the story behind the strange, violent play that bears Ida’s name. Who really was the other Ida?

“The Other Ida is a wild, exuberant ride – inventive, warm and deeply affecting.” – Beatrice Hitchman
