Former Bucks Fizz Stars To Appear At Bristol Pride

Bristol Pride’s afternoon headline act has been revealed as ‘Cheryl, Mike & Jay formerly of Bucks Fizz’.

More than thirty years after they stormed charts with a string of hits, Cheryl, Mike and Jay, formerly of Bucks Fizz, are once again set to remind everyone that there is more to them than Making Your Mind Up, appearing as the afternoon headliner for the Bristol Pride Day event.

Having performed together since 2009 when Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan reunited with Jay Aston, the trio are being joined for their Paradise Regained Tour by a fourth vocalist in Bobby McVey – who is also a Eurovision veteran – in making a special stop at Bristol Pride during their worldwide Paradise Regained tour in an attempt to recapture the 80s at Pride.

Releasing 20 singles and selling over 15 million records in the UK alone, the band scored 3 UK number 1’s with “My Camera Never Lies”, “Land Of Make Believe” and of course, their Eurovision winning “Making Your Mind Up”.

Over 40 acts have been booked to perform during the day including Tina Cousins – best known for her hit Mysterious Times, Kym Mazelle – famous for hits with Soul II Soul, X Factor’s Amelia Lily, La Voix and Justin Utley.

As well as fantastic acts, performers and activities the organisers have pledged to continue to showcase local conservation activities, improved recycling and ambitious plans to go generator free for Pride Day – activities all that tie in with Bristol’s title of European Green Capital during 2015.

Meanwhile, volunteers are still being appealed for with many roles still available such as Pride Day Stewards which is an easy role but a massive part of what makes Pride happen. The organisers need reliable people willing to give just 2 hours – or more – to collect vital donations that keep Pride Going. Everyone completing a shift gets a free Pride Day Wristband.
