Have You Considered Fostering Or Adoption ?

4th-10th March marks LGBT Fostering and Adoption week nationally.

To mark the week Bristol City Council are holding an open event for LGBT+ people who would like to find out more about fostering. Many LGBT+ people naturally consider adoption but did you know you can foster long term until a child reaches adulthood?

Many people feel their gender identity could be a barrier to them becoming foster carers. Not so! Your ability to care for, empathise and offer a child stability is what counts.

It will be held at the Kitchen Cafe, on Silver Street, Bristol on Wednesday 6th March from 6.30pm- 7.30pm. This will be an informal event with LGBT foster carers and care leaver available to talk with.

Meanwhile, CCS Adoption, Adoption West and Action for Children are running an LGBT open evening to give you the opportunity to find out more about adoption and the children who need adoptive families and the opportunity to find out more about LGBT adoption, the local LGBT Adoption network and the children who need adoptive families.

This event is being held on Thursday 7th March at The Watershed in Canon’s Marsh, Bristol from 6pm. There will be a short presentation at 7pm with a Q&A session with experienced LGBT adopters, you’ll also get to hear about their experiences and find out more about the application process.

Staff from CCS Adoption, Action for Children and Adoption West teams will be on hand to answer any questions you might have. You’ll find out what the next steps are if you decide that adoption is right for you.
