Kacey Musgraves, the country singer who broke boundaries with her inclusive song about kissing, recently performed with Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams. On stage, the two women covered Cyndi Lauper’s iconic song Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

The Performance

Musgraves performed in Nashville, Tennessee on 27 February. It was the first night of a four show residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. The country star surprised fans by bringing Tennessee-based Williams on stage for a special duet of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. The act combined the best of Musgrave’s country style with Williams’ iconic and playful pop-punk dance moves.

After the first chorus of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Musgraves announces Hayley Williams. Williams joined Musgraves on the stage, wearing a pink blazer, white boots, and not much else. This look was similar to the one Williams donned throughout last summer’s After Laughter tour.

Hayley took the second verse, and the two harmonized the next chorus.

Though Williams is on a social media hiatus, the Paramore Twitter account gave a shout-out to Musgraves and shared a fan-recorded video of the two performers. Paramore’s post referenced Williams’ lack of pants while on stage.

The duo also shared some cute pictures of themselves on their Instagram stories, which were obviously saved by fans.
