India’s androgynous fashion show is back

More than 300 people are expected to attend the second version of India’s pioneering androgynous fashion show.
This weekend, the Feronia Fashion Night will take place at a luxury resort in India’s beachside paradise of Goa.
It will celebrate gender diversity with androgynous collections by established and up-and-coming designers.
What’s more, LGBTI models — including Mr Gay India 2018 — will strut the runway.
According to organizer Neha Balla, the night’s main aim is to blur the lines of gender stereotypes in Indian society.
‘We truly believe that we should work together as human rather than discriminating them on based on color and sexuality.’

‘We think it is everybody’s birthright to be happy, to be in love and to dream of a better future.’
The inaugural fashion show took place in the city of Jaipur in December last year.
Balla expects more non-LGBTI people to attend this year. The event will be chaired by renowned actor Samir Soni.
Designers include Padma Raj Keshri from Ahmedabad. Keshri is well known in the textile industry for exploring new craft clusters and working with artisans.
Asia’s pioneering androgynous fashion designer, Hoshigoru William, will also showcase a collection.
