One of Swindon’s biggest employers has ensured Wiltshire’s LGBT Pride goes ahead this year.

Nationwide, whose Headquarters are located in the town, has stepped forward to ensure Pride – cancelled last year due to a lack of volunteers – will return in style.

Pride chairman Kristian Wheeler told the Swindon Advertiser “Having Nationwide back on board as our main sponsor for 2019 is incredible achievement and shows how businesses are supporting their LGBTQ+ staff and the whole community of Swindon and Wiltshire.”

Faye Whitmarsh, the head of culture and inclusion at Nationwide, said: “We’re very pleased to be supporting this year’s Pride festival and parade in Swindon – the home of our Nationwide headquarters. We are passionate about valuing human difference and inclusion. These events are a great opportunity to celebrate in a fun and fully inclusive way and bring our members, employees and the local community together.”

Swindon Pride has raised more than £2,175 on its JustGiving page to prevent another cancellation and bring all the communities together while celebrating diversity in Swindon.

The LGBTQ+ event will be held in Old Town, Swindon on Saturday 10th August for its 11th year.

Swindon & Wiltshire Pride was awarded a grant of £10,000 from the National Lottery earlier in the year, which will help towards the main event in 2019. Preparations have started in earnest with headline acts being announced over the previous weeks.

Responsible for some of the most instantly recognisable club anthem of the ’90s, N-Trance are the British duo behind the iconic singles ‘Set You Free’ and ‘Forever’. La Voix is best known for receiving 4 YES’S and a standing ovation on Britains Got Talent. Since appearing on the show, La Voix has gone on to be the UK’s most dazzling performer.

Taking a break from her busy touring schedule, La Voix is excited to be celebrating pride in Swindon & Wiltshire. Expect a show like no other with big diva anthems from the UK’s second best loved red head!
