Choreographer Emma Portner says Justin Bieber ‘degrades women’
Emma Portner, a choreographer and dancer on Justin Bieber’s Purpose World Tour, is slamming the pop star for ‘degrading women’.
Portner made her claims, accusuing Bieber of paying her less than minimum wage and going to an anti-LGBTI church, in a since-expired Instagram story.
‘I regret working on under your name,’ Portner began the post, holding no punches.
‘I gave your universe my naive body, creativity, time, and effort. Twice. For content that you made millions off of. While I made zilch. Natta. Barely anything. Less than minimum wage for the hours I invested.’
She went further, describing the experience of not getting paid what she felt she deserved: ‘I couldn’t afford to eat. I was sweeping studio floors to be able to practice my craft.
‘The way you degrade women is an abomination.’

Portner goes in further, mentions Chris Brown
As Portner’s post continued, she condemned Bieber for collaborating with ‘overly problematic people’.
This rings loud after Bieber recently defended Scooter Braun in the midst of Braun’s feud with Taylor Swift.
She then went on to accuse the Canadian singer of attending a church that is anti-LGBTI, likely referring to Hillsong. Ellen Page, actor and Portner’s wife, previously criticized Chris Pratt for attending Hillsong.
‘Your company hired an out lesbian in your music video, and to choreograph some content for your purpose world tour,’ she wrote, referring to herself. ‘How do you feel about that? A lesbian, HELPING YOU, for a disrespectful amount of money, as you attend a church that goes against my existence?’
Portner recommends ‘enlightenment’ for his ‘traumatized brain’ and offers to buy and send him books.
‘You depend on proper guidance to move forward,’ she wrote. ‘I BEG that you find it.
‘A straight white pastor/manager can’t be your only majour source of world view. I have so much to say but mostly… I really hope you educate yourself beyond your bible. You have IMMENSE power.
‘Use it to STOP DEGRADING WOMEN.’
Finally, she says people should continue ‘checking on’ both him and Chris Brown. Bieber recently worked with Brown, who was charged with felony assault in 2009 for beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna and was recently accused of rape.
‘You can be grateful for opportunity AND still hold people accountable,’ Portner wrote in the second and final post. ‘You can be upset with your industry AND still want to be a part of it by encouraging change.’
Finally: ‘You can be abused AND still have complex feelings towards your abuser(s).’
Bieber has not responded to Portner’s posts.
