This is how the US soccer team celebrate a World Cup win

The United States women’s national soccer team celebrated in style on Sunday (7 July) night after they won big at the World Cup finals in Lyon, France.

The team beat the Netherlands 2-0. It’s their fourth World Cup title and second in a row.

Scorer of the first goal in the 61st minute, officials awarded out player Megan Rapinoe both the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball awards.

They recognized her as the top-scoring and best-playing individual in the cup.

Instagram stories from the pair show plenty of champagne and Budweiser beer in the locker room after the match.

Players donned ski masks, sprayed silly string, and showered glitter to celebrate.

Footage also shows a rousing rendition of We are the Champions by rock band Queen.

At one point Harris grabs Krieger and says to the camera: ’Two-time world champ. With my wife.’

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris met while playing nearly a decade ago for the US national soccer team.

This year, there were at least 41 openly gay or bisexual women in the soccer World Cup in France this year.

But, will the soccer team celebrate at the White House?

Trump on Sunday praised the team’s ‘great and exciting play’.

But, critics noted, it took him more than an hour after the win to congratulate the team.

Last month, she said she would not go to the ‘fucking White House’ to meet President Trump if they won.

After Rapinoe last month said she would not go to the President’s Office, Trump insisted on inviting the whole team.

But, ‘Megan should never disrespect our Country, the White House, or our Flag, especially since so much has been done for her & the team’ he wrote.

Krieger, meanwhile, previously stated unequivocally about Trump: ‘I refuse to respect a man that warrants no respect.’

Rapinoe previous explained that Trump often avoided inviting teams that might decline.

Or, like he did when the [NBA’s Golden State] Warriors turned him down, he’ll claim they hadn’t been invited in the first place’ she said.

Similarly, Trump also canceled a visit by the NFL team the Philadelphia Eagles following their Super Bowl win last year when most players declined to attend.

During last year’s Winter Olympics, gay figure skater Adam Rippon said he wouldn’t go because he wouldn’t be welcome.
