While the Westcountry may not be renowned for its thriving gay nightlife, there are many LGBT community groups that work in conjunction with one another to provide our LGBT population with an excellent support network. Covering all ages, creeds, races, beliefs and abilities, the local LGBT community groups in Bristol, Somerset & Wiltshire are a superb source of information and are testament to the real sense of community that our community offers.

Gay Mens Book Club
Meeting monthly at a venue in the centre of Bristol to discuss a book written by a gay author or about gay themes. Currently the group compromises of a very mixed in age and background. Anyone is free to choose a book but they don’t necessarily have to introduce it themself. Discussions are quite lively and new members would be welcome. Email for further details.
Sing Out Bristol
Sing Out Bristol is a choir run by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who enjoy singing. They welcome all members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Choir experience is not necessary, although the ability to sing in tune is desirable! Also, there are plenty of opportunities to help out with non-singing activities – especially at performances.
Gay West
GayWest is the longest running group in the South West of England for gay men, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people, providing a safe and supportive social group in Bath, Bristol and surrounding areas
Outdoors and Sporting
OutdoorLads
OutdoorLads is a UK-wide outdoor pursuits and social group, with well in excess of 10,000 members and almost 1,000 alone in the South West. Members are gay or bisexual guys, with a core age group of 18-35, but all ages are welcome
Gay Outdoor Club
The local branches of the Gay Outdoor Club based in Wiltshire, Somerset and Gloucestershire hold regular events, there is no better way to take in the beauty of the local countryside, get some exercise, and maybe even a pub lunch!
Cycle Out Bristol
Cycle Out ride their bikes for recreation and fun. There are rides based around Bristol and also weekend trips or longer throughout Britain and beyone. They aim to vary the types and lengths of rides to involve all levels of cycling ability and interest.
Bristol Bisons Rugby
A rugby club for gay and straight men offering a friendly and inclusive atmosphere to train and play rugby. They are looking for people to both help support and play. What ever your age, skills or ability you will be made welcome as they take you through the basics of the game or get you involved in more advanced practice. The Bisons hold training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday evenings at various locations around Bristol.
Bristol Panthers
Bristol Panthers Football Club is a LGBT+ friendly football team based in Bristol. Founded in 2000, They are a club that believes in providing everyone with a fun, supportive environment to play football, learn new skills and make friends. All players are welcome, whatever your experience, ability, sexuality or gender identity.
Out To Swim West
LGBT+ Masters Swimming in Bristol – The club is part of the wider Out To Swim aquatics club in London and Brighton and the Bristol group launched in September 2018, supported by the University of Bristol. Our coaches design great workouts and, as well as swimming for fitness, we also work on technique across all four main strokes: front crawl, back stroke, breast stroke and butterfly.
We currently swim twice a week at the University of Bristol Swimming Pool in Queens Road, Clifton

Bristol Lesbian, Gay & Bisexual Forum
The forum is made up of members of the local lesbian, gay and bisexual community. The forum was established in October 1994 and is dedicated to challenging the discrimination that lesbian, gay and bisexual people experience.
Gloucestershire Gay & Lesbian Community
The Gloucestershire Gay and Lesbian Community is a friendly social group for gay men and lesbians of any age. The group provides an alternative to the gay scene for people who want to meet others.
Somerset Gay Health has now merged with THT and continue promoting good sexual and mental health of every Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual person in Somerset
Intercom is a lesbian gay bisexual and trans community resource in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset, providing help against homophobic and transphobic prejudice, crime and discrimination
There are two key aims of the Taunton Gay Group: – to organise informal meet ups in Taunton venues (18+ for evening events) and other activities to get together, have a laugh and make new friends – helping LGBT+ people feel less isolated and more connected, and – to provide a local information hub on their website for other wider LGBT+ events, networks and support for all.
Wiltshire and Swindon Men’s Sexual Health
Wiltshire and Swindon Men’s Sexual Health was a support group who worked directly with local gay and bisexual men, as well as with other local organisations and services to help to better help local gay men. Now no longer active although the website remains online as a useful resource guide.

If you’re a young person living in Somerset, you may find that being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Transgender, or questioning your sexuality can be difficult. This site is for you.
Established in 1993 and situated in Swindon, Pride Youth is for anyone aged between 13 and 21 who is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or unsure of their sexuality.
