Bristol Pride 2015

Bristol Pride takes place from 4-12 July, with the main Pride Day event taking place once again in the city’s Castle Park on Saturday 11 July.

The main Pride Day event will once again live up to it’s reputation of being a massive outdoor music festival featuring multi stage entertainment, onsite play and creative activities, dedicated community and family areas, licensed bar, food concessions, market stalls and much more. This reputation gained the festival the award of being second place in UK’s Best Pride award – a fact made even better by the other three opponents charging upto £20 for entry to their events.

Over 40 acts have been booked to perform during the day including Tina Cousins – best known for her hit Mysterous Times, Kym Mazelle – famous for hits with Soul II Soul, X Factor’s Amelia Lily, La Voix and Justin Utley.

Activities are not just confined to the Saturday either, with a packed range of events stretching through the week..

Shakespeare Festival and Pride

Bristol Pride and the Shakespeare Festival team up again for this very special night that merges Midsummer Night’s Dream with a queer cult classic; well the course of true love never did run smooth.

This year, lending more than their ears, we have the talents of a few Circomedia graduates as they bring you interactive and acrobatic Midsummers Night’s Dream characters who get caught up in some shenanigans and end up transforming into those iconic party quests. There’s also selected performances on the night from the Bristol Shakespeare Festival as we help them launch their festival.

Pride Day – Saturday 11 July

[box type=”shadow”] Pride Parade – We Are: One

As we host European Green Capital in 2015 we want to use the parade to show our support to LGBT communities world wide but especially those in EU countries that are not supportive. We’ll be running workshops to make placards and are calling for as many groups as possible to theme themselves or enter the parade as a group with a ‘Green’ Rainbow theme. Why not get a group together and plan your outfits! We are able to support people to make outfits, from recycled material, via use of our Bristol Scrap Store membership, we hope to offer a space to come and make placards and store them as well. contact info@wearefest.com for more information.

We welcome absolutely everyone that values equality to come and join us or even just come to watch and cheer us on. There is certain to be a few surprises (some even to us) whilst enjoying the flair, fabulous outfits, colourful characters and of course our fabulous 50-metre rainbow flag.

Gather in Queens Square from 10am where we will be doing a wristband exchange, please come and exchange or buy your tickets here to help ease pressure and queues at the park. The parade will leave at 11am sharp.

The Pride Family Area has become a popular and integral part of Pride Day. Proudly supported by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors we invite you to come celebrate Pride with the whole family in our dedicated Family Area. Along with events and activities there’s a bouncy castle for 2-16 year olds and you’ll find a great space to relax, celebrate and enjoy whilst soaking up the great Pride atmosphere

Community Area

The Community Area and market stalls are the buzzing heart of Bristol Pride and is the chance for people to interact and ask questions from campaign groups, political parties, service providers, businesses supporting LGBT people and our local LGBT groups ranging from social to sports.

Cabaret Stage

The Bristol Pride Cabaret Stage is hailed as one of the best in the country and we’re very lucky to attract some of the best performers on the circuit. Expect sequins, heels and singing….sorry!

Flamboyant, at times risqué and always unpredictable the Cabaret Stage is the place to catch national and local acts and we’ve been tracking down the very best from the South West and London to bring you something really special and this year we have a very special headliner to close the show

[box type=”shadow”] Pride AfterParty

The official afterparty is at the Bristol O2 Academy, it’s a special fundraising night put on by Pride to help keep the day a free event – all the ticket sales and door money go directly to Pride. A sell out night for the last 3 years we curate an epic three rooms of music and performance throughout the club, featuring global headline DJs, local DJs, live acts, roaming club performance and dance. This unique takeover event brings together performances, Bristol’s LGBT clubnights and international DJs for one night only. This year we’ve teamed up with Switching Lanes and we will be going WILD WITH PRIDE. Expect performances from our wild animal crew and special decor throughout, a sea of red lights, glittery traffic cones and hazard tape.

All the money from the event goes to Pride to keep Pride a free event for everyone.
