Pink Rooms Gets A Nod From The Police

Swindon’s Pink Rooms is celebrating after receiving a nod of approval from the local police licensing officer.

The Pink Rooms, in Regent Circus, is also ringing in the changes with new flooring, furniture, bar and paintwork as it looks to change its image as one of the town’s few late-opening nightclubs.

Owner Matt Hearn told the Swindon Advertiser “We have just had a massive refit and I’ve spent a lot of money on new dancefloors, a sound system, bar stools and a bar. I wanted to change it to be more classy glitz and glamour because it used to be quite dark and dingy. We’ve got new lighting in there now and it’s bright and airy.”

“The only thing I kept was the floor-to-ceiling pole because it’s a massive draw and brings people in – men and women actually queue to go on it.”

Security is also top of the list as the venue participates in the town PubWatch which shares information about issues between all the venues in town, and enables their door staff to monitor the radios.

Police licensing officer Sian Kalynka said: “They have improved recently and have been cooperating with us. We have had no cause to go there in the recent past and we are not dealing with any licensing issues there at the moment.”

Matt added: “The important thing is I’m protecting my business and my customers – I want them to come out and have a good night. Also, yes we are a gay club but anybody is welcome whether you are straight, bi or whatever.”
