Pride Comes To Weston Super Mare

Pride Comes To Weston Super Mare

The Pride season continues, with Weston-Super-Mare hosting their pride event on Saturday 16th August.

Hosting it’s first pride event, the North Somerset town has formed a community project that is a Celebration of Equality and Diversity hosted by the LGBT community, friends and families. It is a non-profit organisation that strives to deliver a family event that promotes inclusion within North Somerset.

Weston Super Mare has previously hosted two ‘GayDays’ on the seafront and the organisers have decided that its time to bring a pride event to celebrate LOVE and FREEDOM to the town.

A parade is scheduled to tour the town centre starting from The Silica (locally known as The Carrot) at 11:30am with the theme of Love & Freedom, and organisers are keen to emphasise that the most important aspect of the parade is that you are welcome to join in no matter what alone, in a group part of an organisation – Walking quietly, blowing your whistle, banging a drum or dancing.

The main day event will take place in Grove Park, located in the town centre. Headlining on the main stage will be Bristol born artist ANTTIX – who has toured with The Saturdays, Ed Sheeran, McFly, Rita Ora and Conor Maynard – and he will be making his only UK Pride appearance at Weston Pride.

Gay Icon & Diva, Angie Brown – most well known as the featured vocalist on Bizarre Inc’s hit “I’m Gonna Get You” – will also be performing along with Ryan Jagger, Ashleigh K, Luke Upton and other local artists. As a community event celebrating equality and diversity within North Somerset the organisers have welcomed local artists to join the stage and the talent is outstanding with artists from performing arts and musical theatre college courses.

An after-show party promises a ‘Taste of Ibiza’. Hosted by one of one of London’s most well known club personalities, Barbara Bush, the party will also feature special guests including No1 DJ from TRADE and DTPM ‘Fat Tony’ into the mix with Taste of IBIZA DJ Simon Kaye.

More information, and details on how tickets can be purchased for both the Day and After Party events can be found on the Weston Pride Website.
